A social policy that fisheries must achieve…
On the one hand, the Global Sustainability Seafood Initiative (GSSI) in collaboration with the Sustainable Supply Chain Initiative (SSCI) of the Consumer Goods Forum (CGF).
Ships with the AENOR APR certificate are serving as a comparative framework to establish said policy and to establish the minimum required to be compatible with the principles of the ILO Convention No. 188.
Furthermore, AENOR has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Thai Union (one of the world’s largest producers of canned tuna) and Global Seafood Assurances to actively share knowledge and resources to create efficiencies across their programs which establish standards and best practice for fishing vessels and crew welfare, ensuring that the people who work in fisheries are well represented and looked after. This agreement represents an opportunity to collaborate on constant improvement for the future and to coordinate the necessary audits for a social certification in the fishing fleet.
